Recycling - TerraCycle has a collection box at the Madison Area YMCA to collect 'non-recyclable' items such as air fresheners, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner containers, energy bar packages, mouthwash bottles and caps, deodorant containers, body wash containers, lipstick and lip balm packaging, and Brita dispensers. Such “non-recyclables” are collected and used to create backpacks, totes, lap top cases, jewelry and cell phone cases.
Not only is TerraCycle able to recycle 97% of the items they collect, but they have also raised around $15 million for charities through the sales of their upcycled products.
