Anti Idling Campaign

Turn it Off

  • Did you know that a mere 10 seconds of idling uses more fuel than turning the engine off and on?  And, idling is not good for our health.
  • Exhaust from vehicles waiting near schools easily enters school buildings through air intakes and open windows. Vehicle exhaust is among the largest sources of air pollution in New Jersey.
  • Children are more susceptible to air pollution than healthy adults because they breath at a faster rate and their respiratory system is still developing.
  • Still not convinced?  Idling of any vehicle for more than three minutes is against the law (unless you are in moving traffic).  So, turn those engines off!
